Anon at 9.43.. Of course Courts have to be paid for, but do you realise that the Court receives a payment of £10,000 for issuing a claim of £200,000, for simply sealing a claim form, entering it on the system and sending it to the defendant. The solicitor who has put in all the pre-action work, drafted the claim, etc is entitled to recover a fixed fee of £100 if the debtor pays. How does that work?

Moreover, a one day interlocutory hearing, and all that entails in expense, attracts a court fee of £155. How does that square with the cost of sealing and serving a form?

The system is nonsense and the front loading of the issue fee stifles access to justice for many businesses.
