3.28 (anonymous) - Quite - 100% agree - but as I keep saying - "what" do we do other than just moan about it. Why is the Law Society NOT taking a lead here? Who is the President at the moment, anyway - I am ashamed to say I don't know. That person needs to be aware that they are currently significantly responsible for this deplorable state of affairs and for the inevitable eventual total destruction of British justice - because that is what is going to be the victim of all this toadying apathy. Clearly anyone who does not share the clear view of what is happening here has no imagination whatsoever or is satisfied that they have sufficient funds to buy themselves out of any awkward situations (eg false allegations being made in order to shut people up/get them out of the way as the worst example of a justiceless society). Less serious, but very serious all the same is lack of access to good solid professional advice about our personal and business affairs. Why do we worry about the CMA study - I am not personally worried about this unless if course the results are skewed to come up with another excuse to drive the last nail into the coffin of this so-called "profession". I am pretty sure that there is no anti-trust behaviour amongst traditional professional firms (frankly hard to see how there could be) - but the increase in ABSs (encouraged by the successive governments) could also increase the chances of cartels operating and to a signficant portion of the market being cornered by a very small number of very large corporations (at the same time as they exploit mercilessly their staff (qualified or not) and, more sinister still, their "customers").
