The pity of it all is that over many decades The Law Society has been more interested in politics than law. Instead of regarding conveyancing as a cash cow to be protected at all costs, it should have driven ahead the simplification of conveyancing, which would have avoided the calamity now faced by the profession in this field. Oh yes, some things were done, but the determination to serve the public, and avoid the nightmare that conveyancing has been for many, would have led to a different outcome.
