On the basis of one judicial position not filled and two judges retiring early plus anecdotal evidence that current pay levels are discouraging people from applying for High Court appointments the MoJ is all of a flurry.
On the basis of the actual (not merely anecdotal) evidence produced over many years which shows that low legal aid fees discourage young lawyers who would otherwise be doing the work the MoJ carried on regardless.
