Miss Robinson, most people and most cultures throughout history and throughout the world have felt a strong repugnance towards the practice of homosexuality. That may (or may not) be a very deplorable fact; but a fact it undoubtedly is. It won't be altered by pretending that the contrary is true, by loud declamation, or by victimizing and suppressing those who do not happen to share your own modernist-Western assumptions. If I may turn your rhetorical question on its head: how would you feel if you were routinely demonized and/or ridiculed for holding opinions which until the day before yesterday were unquestioned truths even in the West, let along among the rest of mankind - where to a large extent they still are? You express some concern that readers will give your comment a "thumbs down" (I haven't in fact done so). Console yourself with the reflection that my own comment, stating nothing but plain, verifiable fact, will almost certainly be obliterated by the Gazette censor as soon as it catches his/her ever-watchful eye. That unfortunately is the libertarian world we live in.
