The LAA for the next round of rotas should allow solicitors to move to firms of their choice.The rotas should be allocated to the solicitors as it has always been the case.A number of firms have taken advantage of solicitors particularly those that are consultants and basically kept the rotas and not given them anything since currently they are in the firms name.Also the LAA should audit and penalise firms using GHOST duty solicitors who are effectively buying duty slots.Only those solicitors who are actually doing their court and police station duties should be allowed to be on the schemes.
