Anon 6.30. The problem is that the law of contract doesn't apply. The settlement is sanctioned by the court following full disclosure and applying the provisions of MCA.

If a party fails to make full and honest disclosure the court can reopen the settlement. Here both parties may have been totally honest and the loser is likely to be the one who overestimated her assets by not netting out debt. Both sides may have changed position based on the settlement. The value of assets will have changed. Etc etc.

I agree with you though that the chips will likely lie where they fall.
