I can see why fixed fees might appear attractive
I can see why "How long is a piece of string" thinking is unattractive
I can see those who have the power to impose fixed fees relish the Co-op and other ABS calls for same
I can see why knowing exactly what the costs will be is attractive to clients and why those same clients think of fee estimates as quotes and kick up hell if costs exceed estimates because even if the client can talk the hind leg off a donkey he/she does not want to pay for doing so.
What I don't see is how the public can be so gullible as to fall for fixed fees which bear no relation to the work done- a tiny amount of work attracts the fixed fee which would be commensurate with a whole lot of work, as I discovered from clients who have been ripped off by the new boys on the block - of curse I will mention no names but the clients were vulnerable at the time of a very expensive rip off funeral.
