@Stephen Larcombe15 February 2016 04:07 pm:

"...the problem is that the trust which ought exist between the Law Society and its members has been eroded to the point, that all announcements by it are treated with derision...the understandable anger of many solicitors directed towards the Law Society must now be put to one side for the greater good [and] a working party should be established urgently made up not only of members of the Council, but also of representatives of firms of all sizes...."

Truer words not said for some time SL.
Today, I am dealing with a well know (many years ago, very ethical agricultural insurer). They have incepted an insurance policy. That policy is in a Freehold Lessor's name. The Schedule widens the cover to my client a Long Lessee. That same policy includes Legal Expenses Insurance. The Insurer is claiming that it does not apply to my client (wrong obviously). That insurer has employed Claims Handlers/Loss Adjusters (yes they will soon be able to 'litigate' I have no doubt). They have spent 7-8 months doing nothing (notwithstanding the claim is because my client's co-Long Lesses' ceiling came down through his disrepair of the premises and my client has been out of their bottom flat for this time). They state blithely that they have investigated and managed the claim properly and my client is not entitled to either the insurance or anything further (and certainly not my costs).

So Catherine Dixon. Is this what it has come to? Insurers as our puppet masters? And, who is going to actually enforce these dishonest charlatans to do anything?

Is this the new Consumer - Legal Services 'Landscape'?

Who is actually going to pay to police these Insurance Crooks?

You could just as easily write in Banking Crooks as an alternative, let alone the state and Local Authority who are now to my mine untouchable.

Just wondered.
