A currency union only favors net exporting countries. The EURO has been brilliant for Germany who have managed to have huge trade surpluses without their currency increasing in value. This juxtaposed to Greece who have run a huge current account deficit without the stabilizer of a decreasing currency.

Although this doesn't seem a relevant point to the context of the article...


David, surely it does suit us to 'get on'? Both economically and socially. No war and economic prosperity does sound better than 'daggers drawn' and not 'getting on'.
