But, Simon, 'partners' who cohabit for over two years can make a claim under the IFPA 1975 for a chunk of the estate, as indeed happened in this case. that was not the case in the predecessor of that Act 'Partnership' already has its 'rights', or should that be 'obligations', doesn't it?

This is rather ironic as these Acts have their origin in the Family Provision Act, 1938, introduced into parliament by the liberal, sorry Liberal, MP, and author, A P Herbert. Not exactly a 'liberal' measure, surely?
