I don't know if you know this, but Courts don't just "rubber stamp" adoption applications by a Local Authority. It seems unusual to me that this happens actually, the last such order I know that was applied for ending in careful scrutiny of The Lancet and British Medical Journals to ascertain that a mother was sttaing some things under illusion due to a med condition.

And yes, that was on Legal Aid.

And yes the parents were not exactly poor.

So Legal Aid could and should have been applied for if there were merits ....
