CFA's were always likely to corrupt the profession - not just solicitors but the bar as well. They compromise integrity by their very nature.
Legal Aid paid for itself. There were corrupt firms who milked that system but all that was needed was a robust and properly funded LAA to vet the cases and withdraw funding on those that were chancers.
The replacement of LA by CFA's was an ill thought through and panicky response the plug a gap which didn't need to be plugged.
If Wacko Jacko is now talking about using the lottery fund to bankroll the system that's an admission of defeat of the so called 'reforms' and another illusory solution to tyhe mess this and previous governments are responsible for.
