With all respect to the Bar Council, the purpose of Courts is not t serve the needs of barrister (let alone to train them), but to serve the needs of the public. The question is not whether on line Courts will reduce work for junior counsel, bit whether they will better serve the needs of the public.
Most of the clients I deal with, are well educated, in good employment or running successful businesses, but they have little knowledge of the law.
They often have no idea of rights and responsibilities that they have, until I explain it to them.
Sometimes they have been unaware of claims they should be making, and sometimes I have to disabuse them of ideas that they can bring claims which do not exist at law.
Similarly I regularly encounter litigants in person. They are inclined to make bad or non existent points at great length, and fail to make or even be aware of good points they could bring to bear. They are not foolish. They simply do not know the law, and why should they?
Even with the best system one can imagine, and legions of patient and sympathetic judges, how will people who do not know the law even be aware they should bring, or defend a claim, let alone cope with running their own case?
