I'm sure you are, Anon 4.22, I'm sure you are. But in my opinion the present system is, well let's just say, costly and inefficient and should be replaced by one where, at least, the victim gets the money presently paid to solicitors, barristers and expert witnessers, secondly gets them an income stream immediately if needed and thirdly maintains their dependents if they have any after death. The present system spends vast amount on legal fees, often causes acute financial problems between the negligent act and any payment and fails to look after dependents.

I am not against the compensating of victims, I just believe that shedloads of money leaks out of the present system, hundreds of thousands of pounds no doubt in the Whipps Cross case, only for the claimant to get £50,000 years after the event, and his dependents ,if he had any, get nothing. Doesn't it seem to you if something has gone badly wrong?
