Technically fraud cannot increase insurance premiums as to be legally proven fraud (ABI take note: innocent until proven guilty in a court of law) it means not only does the insurer not pay out but it also recovers its costs.

Are Aviva saying they are knowingly paying out on fraudulent cases in the knowledge this will needlessly increase their customers premiums? Perhaps this should be made known to their customers. If they have reasonable grounds to believe a claim is fraudulent they owe their other customers the duty of taking it to trial but, as we know, spurious fraud allegations are almost always dropped at the 11th hour.
