Why do we need insurance companies???? If the government can have a department to charge us for a TV License, I'm sure they can create a department to run an 'insurance company'. At the end of September 2015 there were 36.5 million vehicles (DVLA website) licensed for use on the roads in Great Britain, of which 30.2 million were cars. Set a fixed insurance fee for each car say £250.00 pa. 30.2 million x £250.00 = £7,550,000,000 (Seven billion five hundred fifty million). Set a billion aside for the claims, and set a further billion aside for admin, staff etc. That's a saving of £5.5 billion each year which can go towards the NHS. I know, this is theory but it can work. Screw the Insurance Companies.
