Anon @ 1.12 - I am male, still not too old and , if not fit, certainly not decrepit - I had a low impact shunt in December - I was stationary in traffic in my Jeep, and a van tried to switch lanes and came in the back of me - I suspect not doing much more than 10 MPH. He hit my tow bar so no damage done to my car (actually a week or so later the exhaust fell off as the bracket was broken so that may have been part of it) - the front of his van had the bumper with a big hole in it where the tow bar went through and the plastic panels pulled away.

I didn't particularly want to claim for injury but after a few days I was in agony - I went to the GP and she, in no uncertain terms, told me I must have Physiotherapy, that the NHS has no resources to pay for it, and she was very clear that I should claim against the TP.

I actually paid for it myself as the TPI were so slow - the appointment they finally got around to making was in March - by that time I had had 5 sessions.

It turns out that I sustained a costovertebral joint sprain - take it from me it is very painful - it also caused me to develop lower back pain which is also very painful.

All this from a low-velocity impact, with minimal damage, but don't ever tell me that my pain is superficial or not worthy of some recognition. And I can also tell you that I would not have had a clue what to do with the other sides messing around if I hadn't been well used to it as a lawyer!
