I was lucky enough only ever to work in small firms. When I was an articled clerk (remember them?) in Eastbourne 1973-76 I recall my principal (remember them?) James Webster mildly reprimanding me when I told him once that I had taken a file home. "You shouldn't need to be doing that at this stage, David", I can still hear him saying. He was like a second father to me and it was a joy to work with him. How times have changed!

I am glad you are feeling better in a smaller firm. The largest ones seem dissatisfied unless their senior partners are on at least £1m. p a.
