You solicitors need to look at it from the Bar's point of view where they are anxious to say the least that solicitor-advocates have almost all the magistrates court advocacy and a third of the crown court advocacy, which is continuing to increase.

Objectively, surely you are in the driving seat in the delivery of criminal defence advocacy to the criminal justice system despite what Gove may think?

And let's face it, barristers are not about to start opening sets of chambers on the high street or as most appear to work from home, inviting criminals to come and visit them at home. To be honest, barristers also don't want criminals visiting them in chambers and nor do they want to conduct the litigation. They just want all the advocacy but for solicitors to do the leg work then pass it to them in a nice bundle in plenty of time before trial.

The Bar's problem is that there is not enough money in the system for that to happen!
