Will someone please tell the SRA to shut up and go away.
Light touch regulation allows people and firms to do whatever they like with near impunity.
If people don't like the rules then go be a licensed conveyancer or join Cilex or the Bar or become a McKenzie Friend or a will-writer.
Doesn't mean that the rules don't need to be reviewed and updated. What it does mean is that every Solicitor should fear the SRA. Currently the SRA is seen as a joke-it is that perception that the SRA should be addressing so Solicitors act in accordance with the rules and within the spirit of the rules (aka "act ethically") and the SRA enforces the rules. Simples. If the current hierarchy at SRA aren't up to the job then move on.
