In the cold light of day the costs claimed seem shocking (more than 10x the value of the settlement). That said if the court deems the costs incurred were reasonable and necessary surely that should be then end of that. Applying the additional test of proportionality seems arbitrary especially if the judge is looking at the value of the settlement rather than the amount claimed...
