The President of the Law SocIety is right to draw the attention of the profession to the many issues surrounding Land Registry privatisation.

The problem now is where do go from here?

The efforts of the "Save our Land Registry Group", augmented by the support of certain solicitors, had resulted in widespread coverage in the written media, with at least two articles in the Times.

Although the formal consultation is closed, the pressure emanating from the Treasury for a sale of this national asset is enormous.

Strong political pressure must be maintained by one of the principal actors in this potential unfolding tragedy - the profession and stressed out home buyers would not forgive us if we did otherwise.
