The underlying point of this as I understand it is that UK legal aid was being used by Shiner and co to drum up cases of little merit against UK troops and even actively going out to find such cases and gilding the lily a little bit. They obviously forgot the old maxim - that all is fair in love and war- had someone killed one of my mates he needn't ask for clemency from me , however battle hardened you may be , you have the power of life or death in your hands - it doesn't take all day to decide to pull the trigger or commit some atrocity in a normal situation, bearing in mind the other side have no such compunction in a reverse situation, with no one to even consider they may have broken some code of conduct - Consider how much control in real life codes have on some business firms if any, and also the muslim quranic code to lie and cheat infidels
