Looks to me as though Shiner lost his legal aid contract, and is under independent criminal and professional investigation, for rather more than just "doing his job and tempting the establishment", as some twerp suggests above.

And I don't personally believe the Legal Aid Agency, the SRA, and the National Crime Agency are all the willing agents of the Shiner-despising Daily Mail. I may be wrong, but if they are, then we really are in a mess.

When one thinks of the dreadful allegations he has made against a number of his fellow human beings without a smidgen of evidence (human rights are fine in general, just don't expect them from Phil if you're British and have a real name) his current discomfort is a matter of deep satisfaction.

Time will tell if he is exonerated, and if the unspecified secret charges at the forthcoming secret SRA disciplinary tribunal are unsupported, then they should be dismissed (whatever they are - secret justice, doncha love it?).

But if he was involved in allegations such as are reported by the Mail, Telegraph and Times to be under investigation, namely of bribing Iraqis to bring claims, and then disguising the bribes as Legal Aid claims for translation and travel costs, then he will have brought the legal profession into outrageous disrepute, and will thorough;y deserve everything that comes to him.
