good point. 'Policital Correctness' is actually a unhelpful term as it implies that you are being asked to behae in a way which is unreasonable or onerous - if you replace it with "treating people with respect" it makes much more sense.

I also think that it is worth noting that just because someone (or a group) feels that their rights have been trampled on, does not necessarily mean that they have been - freedom of speech has never meant freedom from consequences of speaking, freedom of religious doesn't, and shouldn't, mean freedom to discriminate against others.

I can't now recall the source but I read a very pertinent comment about this type of thing: "when you are used to priviledge, equality can feel like oppression"
