"The LSB says insufficient competition in the legal sector is restricting choice, increasing cost and hampering innovation in the sector."

Conveyancing is dirt-cheap. You can make a will for buttons. Crime is under legal aid. There is no problem with choice and competition in those areas.

Litigation is obviously a problem. And it always has been. That's nothing to do with competition and everything to do with it being time-consuming thanks to our laws. Nothing the LSB or anyone can do about that.

"Title acts at the moment as a barrier to sustainable entry to many parts of the market for legal services because a prospective market entrant without the title in question may find it difficult to gain market share."

You mean someone who has not gone through six years' of training and education to become a solicitor might find it difficult to gain the trust of people? Stap me vitals.

Perhaps Sir Michael might extend this idea to things like medicine. Why bother having people train to become a doctor? I can't set myself up as a healthchecker because of the ridiculously restrictive requirement that I know something about medicine.
