A few things stand out from the judgment.

Firstly, using plain English means the judge is not mealy-mouthed about describing the parties. He overtly calls Mr A a bigot. He describes his case as "nonsense".

Secondly...

"1) Mr A is interested in what is happening in Syria.
2) In July 2014, he tried to go to there on his own. He was stopped at Manchester Airport. His luggage contained things that would be useful in a war zone. When he was stopped, he at first lied about where he was going, and then said that he was going to Syria to help people who were caught up in the war. After more questioning, he was released. He was not accused of any crime."

Someone is heading for Syria carrying war stuff and lies about his destination - and is released?
