"If faced with a stark choice between upholding or abandoning the Rule of Law, what would you really choose?" But that "stark choice" doesn't appear to have been posed in this case, Anon 3.55pm. According to Anon 7.39am's posting, the decision could almost have gone either way. What most of us would like is for human rights judges and lawyers to lean just a little to the side of public safety and common sense wherever the facts will allow them to do so - and that ultimately is also the side of the "rule of law".
