33 years ago, I was offered my first job in the law in London. I was out at all hours, in police stations, courts and prisons. It was the best job I've ever had in my life. But I was paid £60 per week. At the time, I was told by many people, that this was way below the minimum levels set by the Law Society and that I was being shamelessly exploited. But it was a brilliant job and a brilliant place to work. At the end of the week, I had £2 in my pocket - and that was it. So, to anyone in their youth, working for nothing, I say to them, you're investing in yourself - don't worry so much about the money - it will happen. But the experience you're getting is worth more.
