Its the same with anything..... you don't even think about the effects of this sort of reform until it has personally affected you. I doubt that anyone in London is in a car long enough to ever have an accident - I believe that cars are mostly stationary around those parts anyway! Joking aside, Miss Truss will only have a true understanding of the impact if her or a loved one had an accident of this nature and suffered the effects directly. Then they will more than certainly have a light-bulb moment.

I am not wishing ill of Miss Truss or her family, btw.

I do, however, have a very dim view of MP's generally. Easily corruptible, only out for themselves and lost their way a long time ago - they forget that they work for us - not the other way around. Unfortunately, we live in a country where money talks and bull-sh!t walks and they will take everything they can while they can.

Lets leave aside the thousands of jobs that will be lost due to this reform which, in turn, will mean an increase in unemployment, benefits payouts and housing - so the £40 per year I will be saving in my car insurance will soon be taken off me by another means to cover the increased payments in the social system anyway.

All this to fill the insurance companies already loaded pockets.

I will never forget a dinner I attended some years ago which was hosted by an insurance company at the time. I asked who the 2 gentlemen were at the end of the table and was promptly told that they were MP's who sat as non-executive board members for Aviva!!! I knew then......

If anyone in the country thinks for one minute that car insurance premiums will reduce as a result of this reform - they are deluded.

I am off to buy some Aviva shares all.........
