It would have been honest of MoJ if the spokesperson had said:
"Access to justice is not a priority for the Government. So few people come into contact with our Courts and Tribunal Service that we have been able to run it into the ground with the aim of saving lots of money.
We have got rid of experienced and able HMCTS and CPS and DWP staff so that too few people are left trying to make the system work. We have ensured that no-one employed by HMCTS, CPS or DWP will raise concerns or publicise the lack of resources and the chaos we have created.
Therefore we shall continue to cut the resources, make access to justice a luxury only the rich can afford and shall not lose any sleep (or votes).
If only the Legal professions would realise that their weakids and pitiful opposition to everything we have done has helped create the mess we are in.
We shall continue to put ineffective Lord Chancellors in post so that No 10 can control what happens in the justice sphere just in case, by mistake, we appoint someone who upholds the LC oath.
Next year there will be more consultation, little action and the introduction of the MoJ string orchestra so we can fiddle whilst the Justice system burns to the ground.
Merry Christmas".
