The silver lining is that in the fast track, once a trial is listed, the fee band moves up a level. We have been trying, and failing, to persuade our local county court to fix trial dates when making directions at allocation stage, so we can claim the next level of fees if and when the case settles.
Now there is an incentive on the court to do exactly that as I have little doubt that MOJ mandarins are watching each court's ability to generate income to determine which should be subject to the next round of closures.
