I have been a claimant's personal-injury and clinical negligence lawyer for not far short of 40 years.

I went into that form of law because two members of my family were injured in industrial accidents. One very seriously indeed.

I do not do this work because I earn vast wealth. If I wanted to earn a fortune I would not have gone into the law.And there are branches of the law where I'm sure I could have earned a great deal more than I have over the years.
Had I wanted to. Had I wanted to do a job which paid, as opposed to one which was of value to the community which this kind of work undoubtedly and irrefutably is.

I do this work because I help people. Brain damaged kids or people with bad spinal injuries which will leave them in wheelchairs.

All of us who do this form of work do our best to work with the families as well, because injuries affect them as much almost as the injured person., Albeit in different ways.

Fortunately not all my cases like this. Some are far more modest.

But all have a right to claim. Many have an absolute need. Some whose lives have been changed for the worse. For instance.

Have those who would decry modestly injured claimant's right to claim ever heard of the old Roman law concept of " Solatium".

And if memory serves. it was Lord Macauley in the 19th century, who said that though Rights may be hard one in this country, they are never removed. He got that wrong, it now appears

It used to anger me to be called an ambulance chaser, or someone who is holding the country to ransom. The Daily Heil once accused people like me of trying to bring the country down.

That was a little difficult to take, especially when members of my family started accusing me of that as well.. I no longer talk to them.

Generally I ignore the opprobrium from people like some of those those who have posted below.
But today it's near Christmas and I decided to treat myself to read of this paper and goodness me. what a lot of rot, ignorance indeed, from some of my fellow solicitors

So I respectfully ask them how do they spend their day.Or if they are retired what did they do when in work.

What field of law did what do they practice in.

Whom do they help? people who need help because suddenly they've gone to work and like my grandfather fallen down a lift shaft and will eventually die from that.

Or do they simply help people who pay them to do business deals. Or something else commercial

Whom did they help today?

these reforms are an attack on fundamental rights owned by ordinary working people. By government that thinks that ordinary people are unimportant.

I fundamentally disagree as I disagree with those below post in the way that they do., they betray nothing but ignorance of the true life and calling of the personal injury and clinical negligence solicitor
