When I joined the profession in the early 80's the local law societies were very active - organising monthly seminars and lectures, newsletters and recruitment etc.

Now most seem totally moribund - I doubt if folks in the regions have the time to get involved, even if they had the inclination.

The direction of travel is clear - the SRA will be given it's independence, the LS will have to become a proper VOLUNTARY members association, and places like 113 CL will be sold off to meet the likely pension liability shortfall in the brave new world.

Bring it on...
