I don't think anyone doubts that various committees play a worthwhile role in formulating responses to consultations and producing practice notes (except the crazy one on Sharia law, obviously...). That's not the issue. The issue is that the Society as a whole is now useless at representing and promoting the interests of those who fund it. That is not down to the composition of the Council. It is down to the Council not knowing how to be an effective representative organisation.
