Dear Law Gazette,

I did seek information from Companies House in these terms by way of Freedom of Information Act 2000 and therefore is in the public domain:

"Does the SRA liaise carefully with the ICO and Companies House to ensure that all is harmoniously resolved and no apparent inconsistencies are published on the public record? Is there a Memorandum of Understanding between you at all? If so, please provide me with the details. Thank you."

As part of their response to me, Companies House responded:

"....To be of assistance, CH is primarily a registry of company information. The Registrar of Companies accepts all documents sent to him in 'good faith' and he does not have any powers to verify or validate the information contained within them. The Registrar can only act within the parameters of the Companies Act as we have no investigatory powers. The Registrar of Companies has no power or influence over the data held within public registers held by other public or private bodies.

There is no Memorandum of Understanding between CH, the SRA or the ICO. CH therefore does not hold any information in the scope of this request. ..."
