The point is, they actually have training contracts. If they are being trained, which ours are in depth, then that means another fee earner is not earning money whilst they are training them. They are not profitable until they have brought in four times salary. That is the benchmarking figure set by national accountancy firms. How many more training contracts have been offered since the minimum training salary was abolished? We have three trainees and one already trained and qualified since we could set their salaries ourselves. And before every Tom Dick and Harry says how oppressed they are, you are wrong. I have given up every Monday morning for months to intensive training sessions. Don't forget that we also have to pay for their utterly worthless, time wasting courses that are not fit for purpose. We also lose them for weeks to these pointless courses. All of which is a financial drain on the business. However, the good news for all concerned is that we turn out qualified staff who are exceptionally well trained, they haven't picked up bad habits from other firms, they get a qualification for life and they haven't had to work at Asda for the last two years because we could afford to take them on following the relaxation of the rules on salary. Also, if you want a thirty five hour week then frankly law is not for you and you should have researched this point long before embarking on an expensive degree course.
