Please confirm how this is a breach of DPA, simply advising their own insurer that they didn't want the claim transferred does not constitute breach at all, not great customer service but certainly no breach and the policy at renewal was signed and I'm 100% certain that in the policy booklet it would mention about legal cover and even claims management companies that would be appointed by the chosen insurer, these are generally put in by intermediaries and have nothing at all to do with insurers.
You quote "industry standard" of "throwing £'s for a quiet life" or maybe its to try and prevent CMC's and solicitors trying to entice claimants into making claims so they can get their costs
