The number of times (a lot) I have dealt with notices to pay fees when the cheque has been sent to the Court and presented does not fill me with confidence.

I can imagine numerous claims being struck out followed by unnecessary applications to reinstate / relief from sanctions and chaos ensuing in the meantime as the parties and counsel could all turn up ignorant that the claim has been struck out . . . how can this be so? Easily as often we do not get orders until two weeks after the date the order was made.

I can also see plenty of satellite litigation where the cl sends the trial fee a week before the due date, the claim settles five days later and the defendant decides not to pay the fee as the claimant should have waited until the last day!
