So the court loses (or doesn't log receipt of) the fee. Or nowadays doesn't bother to take it (we give them our PBA number when appropriate and usually email it to the court so the onus is firmly on the court to take the fee). *

They deem the case to be struck out.

We then make an application to get the claim reinstated.

And the fee for this (£100) gets kept by the MOJ! Brilliant!

* [sending a PBA number by email generally works well, except when Brighton County Court take the same fee twice and point blank refuse to refund it without threatening to sue them. You've taken £255. "Yes, it's for an application". But you already took that two days before. "Oh let me see. It says two days before there was a £255 fee for an application". Yes, so why have you have taken it two days later. "That fee two days later is for an application." Repeat ad nausuem]
