Anon at 15.03 is absolutely right. Trainees about to qualify ought to have the brainpower to work out that if they do not have a sufficiently firm offer of post qualification experience then they need to be applying for positions as newly qualified solicitors elsewhere - indeed it is probably sensible to do so in any event to test the market. One has to wonder if those who fail to take this elementary step have the ability to practise as a solicitor, and to give competent advice to clients; turn it on its head and ask yourself: if a client came to you with this scenario what would you advise them to do.
Tough, maybe, but the world out there does not owe us a living, and a firm which takes trainees does not owe them a living post training contract.
