Interesting your views of we who had to qualify on the job with the most difficult exams ever (LSF)., and much much more so than your gen. But here I shall try to answer some of your interesting points:

"...SO when something like this comes along they come to it with a pre-conceived judgement about how the firm is overcharging and how the society has eroded ..."

I should be very surprised if this level of overcharging simply would ever have taken place pre CPR(and definitely pre CCA 1984). There were scale fees (ish) in the County Court.

"....Fact of the matter is, [Solicitors] ... work on an hourly billing basis, and any amount of work carried out has to be recorded, ...[justified]... and billed. .."

Not necessarily the case. There is a movement now away from this way of [over]charging.

"....The longer an argument rages on, whether from one side or the other, the more the bill is. IN the end if the NHS waged a long battle before relenting,..."

It took them 15 months. Why did the Claimants take so long to force an admission subject to prognosis if indeed that was always going to be the issue as it appears? This should have taken at most 3-6 months in correspondence.

"....But as they had admitted liability the compensation could be worth a penny yet the bill would still stand. ..."

I don't understand what point you make here. If you mean they should get paid according to the issues which is the usual case in litigation in England and Wales, then of course subject to how long it would take to resolve the outstanding issue, namely prognosis (with a Registrar's Report).

"....The issue comes with snooty old bastards like this judge and certain people on here .."

You mean people who uphold high principals and standards and want the Law followed (and Ethics as part of that Law)?

".....it's cancer like you under whose watch the country has become the way it has. .."

Or perhaps you have been watching too much X Factor, or Britain Has No Talent? Or perhaps snorting a bit too much Charlie at worthy Farm?

"... I don't think anyone should go into law, because old boys think unless your work in tangible, it's not work and your fees should be cut. .."

Oh I do, and plenty of people on here do, but just that they should be intelligent and ethical first and then earn money later.
