One thing I have noticed on here, Rayner, is the snooty way (N B Two 'Os' and one 'T', not vice versa) some people post. Is it just a question of the standard of language education these days, or the wholly erroneous belief that the ruder they are the more force they believe their arguments to have?

Personally speaking, I conclude that you have won the argument as soon as they start down that road. Clearly they have decided they cannot win it with , say, the marxist dialectic, reason, or any other critical thinking technique.
