It seems to me that the legal profession has a fundamental problem with public relations and self promotion.
The public have been allowed to digest the line that all lawyers are overweight and feline and they've bought it completely.

We all know that legal aid solicitors earn usually less than nurses and the police but the public haven't had this explained to them.

We need to re-promote the legal profession as standing up for the people, to re-engage the public. APIL seem to be terrible at this. Why isn't there a lobbying group and a public relations agency and if there is they aren't much good because I've never noticed them.

Every single day I read the comments here and more often than not you're all turning on each other and moaning. I don't see any action and I don't see anything effective happening. Even now the general consensus seems to be cross your fingers with this Prisons and Courts Bill.

The reductions to legal aid sailed through with the exception of a bit of protest by lawyers, one of whom had the foresight to bring her £1000 handbag along, which ended up making the news as a story in itself.

These reforms are going to slip straight through it is inevitable. If you always do what you always did.......
