In my genius I suggest the following ideas;

1) Accept that the legal profession sucks at PR and engage some professionals who can assist with the following;
2) Create a list of key groups who need to be won over in order to prevent further cuts. Or perhaps attempt a broad strategy at this;
3) Find multiple businesses which have gone under due to not being able bring court action due to: Delays at local courts / court administration errors / court fees / lack of availability of local representation / reliance on the only low paid overworked solicitor causing loss of their case and financial ruin. Suggest to public this will be what is coming.
4) Find (and this one shouldn't be difficult) individuals who have relied on untrained representatives due to no legal aid for their matter - Family law - Children - loss of contact. Link this to women and womens groups - Engage some activitists - Link to Womens rights - create support pages on change.org. Ask for expert help from social media experts - attempt some viral campaigns - ask people for thier stories.
5) Housing law - check legal aid deserts (not hard either). Find evicted families - Find homeless individuals - Engage local and national press - Support campaigns "I couldn't find any legal aid in my area because solicitors can no longer afford to do the work, now I'm homeless". Ask people for their stories. Solicitors are protecting the public but they can no longer afford to do the work.
6) Find exhausted overworked legal aid solicitors - Circulate these stories - Mental health deterioriation in the profession - Ask if any solicitors would be willing to talk about their time in legal aid work - Engage the press - Find individuals who these solicitors have helped - Find families who now have a home because of prevention of wrongful eviction. Promote these stories -
7) Create a Union/ pressure group. The LS are good at law but c**p at sticking up for the profession. Lobby areas of the government. Withdraw support on other key projects - This will cost money but the cost will return in time -
8) General media stories and 'nudging'. Create a strategic long term plan for sustained media stories which have as an undercurrent of theme any of the above issues. Accept that this is a long term strategy. If Putin / Trump can do it you can. It works but takes time. This will help prevent any attempt by government to reverse any gains made by the above campaigns.
9) Utilise friendships and professional connections in achieving the above. Attempt a coordinated and sustained project.
