The consequences of a justice system that no longer gives access to justice while constantly devalues and undermines the work of lawyers will be seen by the next generation of would-be advocates as an area of work to be very much avoided. Perhaps we don't need to wait that long.
Imagine doctors being paid according to whether their next patient presents with a minor complaint or might otherwise be identified as having a potential life-threatening condition. I guess it would not be long before the B.M.A. called for industrial action.
