The problems highlighted by this article show once again what happens when myopic politicians constantly interfere with the UK’s centuries old legal system

Funding legal aid and then crippling it.

Authorising “no win no fee”, and then castigating lawyers for exploiting such arrangements.

Consumerism to be at the centre of legal practice, but then still wanting ethical standards, thus confusing lawyers as to whether they are merely selling legal services or acting ethically for a client.

Access to Justice has long campaigned to eradicate “bungs”, cold calling and the like, from personal injury claims, which dark seedy practices have flourished in recent years.

If the government and its executive agencies want the public to be protected, then the MOJ must reinstate integrity as being at the centre of our legal system, and lose its unhealthy obsession with competition and the free market.
