I know someone who has just started working for an Asset Managment company in London at the age of 22 earning £40,000 pa plus perks and a bonus. Granted the person has a degree from a local university. The point is how many qualified lawyers outside of London earn this sort of money without long hours working weekends with associated stress from families. Here in the Midlands there are many job vacancies with salaries around £35000 for experienced 5 year plus solicitors. Frankly the bottom has fallen out of the profession and lies in ruins. Re-read and digest the blogs at the beginning of the article. They expose how the present dreadful situation has come about. An assistant manager at Aldi or Asda has a better quality of life than say a hack run off their feet conveyancer!
