I wish there was some other term than "small firm". Someone recently asked me how I managed to survive as a small firm owner and sympathised with me as I must be finding it very hard.
I pointed out that I drove one of two cars, owned 4 properties and paid myself about £100k. He looked at me, laughed and said "not bad".
There is a very great need for owners of such firms as mine to have compulsory management training in relation to finance, marketing and client/business development. It should be a requirement at PC Renewal to disclose having successfully passed a recognised course. I hear the gnashing of teeth but If we are to be able to compete with ABSs and Big Firms and to attract the best candidates to work for us we must raise our profile and our game.
